By way of background, I am a 2011 graduate of Kenyon College with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Anthropology, specifically Cultural Anthropology focusing on ethnographic research. After taking two courses at Carnegie Mellon's School of Design during the 2013-2014 school year, I enrolled in the Master of Arts in Design program at CMU with the intention of continuing on into the Master of Design program for Fall 2015. I completed my Master of Arts in Design in the Spring of 2015 and have just completed my Master of Design. While anthropology has always been my passion, the field is mainly concerned with preserving the past and conserving the present. To me, design takes the skills of the anthropologist and applies them to the future. My objective as a designer is to use my diverse skillset to create a more sustainable future for me and my environment—locally and at the global level.
